Traditional Coir Doormats are 100% natural Doormats made entirely from Coir Yarn and Coconut Fibre alone. Techno Exports works closely with the skilled craftspeople to manufacture a wide range of Conventional Coir Doormats.
Manufacturing of Traditional Coir Doormats
There are two main conventional methods of manufacturing coir doormats. The first method is by weaving coir yarns in handlooms. Coir fibre placed in between the tightly woven yarns form the mat bristles. Likewise, coir yarn looped between the weaves can be cut-open forming the mat bristles.
Another method of manufacturing is handcrafting the mat using coir yarns. These mats are entirely handmade by skilled craftspeople utilising special dies.
Why should you prefer Traditional Coir Doormats?
To fully understand the advantages of Coir Doormats, we should first understand what Coconut Fibre is and what are its properties.
Coconut Husk, an agricultural bi-product, is wetted and beaten to extract Coconut Fibre. Therefore, Coir is 100% organic, sustainable, eco-friendly and bio-degradable natural fibre. Besides, coconut fibre is one of the robust natural fibres available to humans. It is also one of the most durable organic fibres. Additionally, the anti-microbial properties of Coir are scientifically verified. Additionally, Coconut Fibre has porous structure. Consequently, it can absorb moisture up to 1x times its own dry weight. Unless exposed to an acidic environment, Coir fibre does not rot quickly. Coir Fibre makes an ideal material for manufacturing Doormats because of these properties.
Raw materials used for manufacturing Classic Coir Doormats are Coconut Fibre and Coir Yarns alone. Consequently, they fully utilise all the advantages of the natural coir fibre while staying 100% natural.
Types of Traditional Coir Mats
There are mainly two types of Classic Coir Doormats. The first category uses Coir Fibre and Coir Yarn for its manufacturing. Classic Coir Fibre Mats, also known as FM2, belong to this category. The second category uses Coir Yarns alone. Creel Mats, otherwise known as BC1, Coir Hollander Mats and the Coir Rope Mats belong to the second category. Coir Fibre Mats and Creel Mats have mat bristles. On the contrary, Coir Rope Mats and Coir Hollander Mats do not have brush fibres. Coir yarn acts as the scraper in these doormats.
